To attest the right to a reduction at the entrance of the museum it will always be necessary to show a passport, an ID or a copy.
We remind you that on free admission days, it is not possible to make reservations and priority admissions are not valid (such as for card and pass holders), except for disabled visitors and people accompanying them by law, pregnant women and school groups included in the maximum number of school groups guaranteed per day (daily quota), as set by the Director.
For Michelangelo's Secret Room during the days of free entry it will be available a special free fare without cost of reservation. Certain categories of visitors will be able to select this free option also in days of regular entry.
The categories of visitors that have the right to a free fare ticket without the cost of reservation are:
- Visitors under 6 years old;
- Disabled visitors and people accompanying them (the latter if mentioned in the disability certificate);
- Tourist guides (even outside of the exercise of their profession).
The reduced fare ticket is available for:
- European union citizens, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Uruguay and citizens with permit cards issued for the reasons listed on the website of Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs over 18 and until the day of the twenty-fifth year of age showing a passport or ID.
The free fare ticket (with the cost of reservation) is available for:
- Children under 18 years of any nationality showing passport or id card. Children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult;
- Groups of students from Italy or other EU member states accompanied by their instructors, subject to making phone reservations at the number +39 055 294883 and as authorized by school administration;
- Teachers and students enrolled in the faculties of Archtecture, Cultural Heritage conservation and Educational Services, or on degree courses in literature with an archaeological or historic-artistic specialization in the faculties of literature and philosophy, only for European Union universities. Students must display a valid certificate of enrolment for the current academic year, in Italian, or in English for foreign students (NO international student’s card);
- Journalists registered in the Italian Journalism register. They must display a valid certificate for the current year, in Italian or in English for foreign citizens (Press Card);
- On-duty tour guides (2 free tickets max, upon presenting a valid license issued by the competent authority);
- Interpreters assisting tour guides (upon presenting a valid license issued by the competent authority);
- Employees of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Affairs;
- Members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM);
- For the purposes of study and research, certified by an Italian or international university, academy, school, research institute, or cultural organization, or by the Italian Ministry for Cultural Affairs, or for other justifiable reasons, parties requesting to conduct such research may be granted entry free of charge for specified periods of time.
